Greenstems Tours is primarily a birdwatching tour company with an added focus on the rest of nature — other animals, plants and insects. We cater towards young people, beginners (no matter their age), and neurodiverse individuals. We also hold queer and LGBT+ friendly events.

Home Ed Private tours What to expect

Home Ed

Educational nature sessions, with a take-home worksheet for every trip.

Small groups, ages 6-17 friendly pacing, and species ID sheets to take home after every session.

We run these as a regular termly programme or as one-off booked sessions, so you can build it into your usual routine or just come along when a topic fits what you're covering.

Parents and other home-ed groups are welcome to stay and join in on any tour though, most sessions end with a shared journal page so everyone leaves with something written down, not just seen.

Private tours

A tour just for your group, on a date that works for you.

Great for birthdays, family days out, or a group of friends who want the whole trail to themselves.

Tell us roughly how many people, what age range, and where in Sussex suits you best and we'll come back with a couple of route options and a price for the group rather than per head.

Same binoculars, same easy pace, same "stop whenever something interesting happens" approach as our scheduled tours, just built entirely around your day.

What to expect

An easy, unhurried walk. We stop whenever there's something worth stopping for.

Most tours run around two hours, over flat-ish ground, with a proper break halfway. We bring binoculars for anyone who needs them and talk you through how to use them if you've never had a go.

Bring layers, something waterproof just in case, and a snack. We're outdoors rain or shine, and a hungry group is a distracted group.

Every tour is small by design, usually no more than 10 people, so there's always time for questions and nobody's stuck at the back unable to see.
